Things To Do On A Snow Day

You wake up and look outside to discover the entire neighbourhood is buried in snow!  Even in Canada, snow days happen so keep your kids entertained and turn the day into a fun bonding experience for everyone with the following tips!

Clear The Snow!

Start off your family snow day by having the kids help clear the driveway and walkway.  Instead of making a big push to get it done as quickly as possible, enjoy the moment and let the kids have fun.  If it devolves into a snowball fight, so be it!  You’ll get it done eventually and enjoy some great family time along the way.

Enjoy A Hot Drink

After being outside, there’s nothing quite like a hot drink to warm everyone up.  Apple cider, hot chocolate and warm milk are just a few things kids love.  Anything warm and welcoming that your family loves will work – particularly after a day of snow fun!

Cook Together

Sometimes it’s just too cold and snowy to get anything started outside.  While you’re waiting for the weather to calm down, why not spend some quality time making a meal together?  You can use healthy ingredients like wheat bread or other bread with fibre to make great tasting sandwiches.  Just set out your favourite toppings and let the kids make their own creation.  Or stick with the traditional grilled cheese sandwich which tastes great on whole wheat bread and pairs well with a tasty soup.

Spending time with your kids on a snow day is a great way to fit quality bonding time into an otherwise packed schedule. Try it the next time your kids get a day off school – you’ll be surprised how much everyone involved enjoys it.
