After a big holiday meal, you’re almost certain to be left with leftovers. Try these tips to refresh your leftover dishes and give your family delicious new treats days after the original meal!
Idea #1: Make A Soup
Served a bird? You have everything you need to make a great holiday soup. First carve off all remaining meat and use the bones to make a stock base. Then add almost any leftover you have! Rice and corn make great ingredients, as do fresh greens and beans. There’s no exact recipe, so have some fun and use whatever you have in the kitchen to taste. The last step is to add the meat, season and simmer so all the flavours blend together.
Idea #2: Make A Whole Wheat Bread Sandwich
If you’ve got leftovers, you have the makings for a great sandwich. Adding almost anything to two slices of whole wheat bread or whole grain bread and you can turn yesterday’s dinner into a completely different taste experience! Be creative – try everything from meat to casseroles, vegetables and even salad.
Idea #3: Mix It Up
Create a great dish by combining two leftovers into one. For example, leftover rice and corn make a delicious and tasty combination. Your only limit is your creativity, so don’t be afraid to mix ingredients! You can also add a bit of wheat bread or whole wheat bread for a different twist.
